Reasons For WWI (more in depth): Imperialism: All places (such as Britain) wanted to acquire more land than others causing them to fight over land in places such as Asia and Africa. Militarism: Each place wanted a stronger army than the other so they started building up their own army strength (ex. Britain had the strongest army & Germany wanted to be the strongest.) Nationalism: Countries separated from other countries to join others causing problems (ex. Bosnians separated from Austria-Hungary to join Serbia). Alliances: (Different alliances included) France joined Britain & Russia, Germany joined Austris-Hungary and Italy Assassination: Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip, a member of the Black Hand society (a terrorist organization against Austrian Rule).
